According to Facebook: Facebook's privacy policy does caution kids under 13 years old against registering for an account. "If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible," the company says. "If you believe that we might have any information from a child under age 13, please contact us through this help page." (www.abcnew.go.com, 2011). Furthermore, children will still find there way in to Facebook and this is the challenging part because they have been exposed to that certain social media and they became addicted to it.

With the proposal that I can think of, parents should educate their children about life in cyberspace at a very young age. We have to talk to them on how dangerous having Facebook account or social media can be, and how it affects their lives. It is truly a bad influence to young children because they get addicted, they learn something new such as how to gamble, visiting website that they are not suppose such as pornography. By just having an age verification option on social media for under 13 years of age does not work because children lie about their age. Facebook terminating their accounts will not stop them from creating another one.

I strongly advise that parents should keep their kids safe by sharing what they know about online social media. That is the only way they can be safe and understand why they cannot have Facebook. It worked with my daughter who is now 11, she understand the danger of social media. Facebook policy won’t be able to help once your young children become a victim of an online criminal that has been lurking around children’s profile.
