INTRODUCTION

- BACKGROUND

What is Online Exams System all about? Online Exams System is a web application for to take online test in an efficient manner and no time wasting for checking the paper. This application establishes a network between the institutes and the students. Institutes enter on the site the questions they want in the exam. These questions are displayed as a test to the eligible students. The answers enter by the students are then evaluated and their score is calculated and saved. This score then can be accessed by the institutes to determine the passes students or to evaluate their performance. Online Exams System provides the platform but does not directly participate in, nor is it involved in any tests conducted. Questions are posted not by the site, but users of the site. The site requires an institute to register before posting the questions. The site has an administrator who keeps an eye on the overall functioning of the system. No restriction that examiner has to be present when the candidate takes the test. The system entitled “Online Exams System” is application software, which aims at providing services to the institutes and providing them with an option of selecting the eligible students by themselves. It is developed by using JAVA technology and related database.

The website to conduct online examination is “OnlineExamSystem”. This website provides facility to educational institutes as well as in corporate world to conduct online exams by providing a unique id to each user. The institute provides questions along with answer and marks. Institute also enters the list of eligible students. All the information entered can be later edited by the administrator. In turn student can login with their unique id and password to do the exams after the exam is over they also can view their result or the result will automatically generate a result report and send to their email. Institutes can also view the result of their students. Moreover, there is no restriction that examiner has to be present when the candidate takes the test.

- PROBLEM IN EXISTING SYSTEM

EXISTING SYSTEM:

The first problem is that there are loads of hard copied documents being generated. This brings us to the age-old discussion of keeping information in the form databases versus keeping the same on sheets of paper. Keeping the information in the form of hard-copied documents leads to the following problems. Lack of space it becomes a problem in itself to find space to keep the sheets of paper being generated as a result of the ongoing discussion. The documents being generated are too important to be ill-treated. Secondly, filing poses, a problem which the documents categorically is a time consuming and tedious exercise. Moreover, Filtering is not easy it becomes hard to filter relevant documents for the irrelevant ones if the count of the same crosses a certain manageable number. In addition, Reviewing becomes time-consuming all the process done manually at the centers and all the records are maintained on the papers. So the maintenance of the record is very difficult in the departments and as well as it’s very difficult for the workers to check the record. The Existing system is paper based, time consuming, monotonous, less flexible and provides a very hectic working schedule. The chance of loss of records is high and also record searching is difficult. Maintenance of the system is also very difficult and takes lot of time. Lastly, result processing is slow due to paper work and requirement of staff.

3.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

The problem of Traditional examination method spans thousands of years in our country, and frequent exams today brings lots of problems as well. Teachers spend much time in mechanically marking papers and excessive use of paper contributes large number of environmental problems. The influence Educational institutions are the majority to be influenced by our system and exams participants will also be involved. The impact of which is this has leads following problems Educational institutions will vary their approach to manage large-scale test. In the meantime, exam participants may spend some time in getting accustomed to the new way of exam. A successful solution would be Depending on information technology; an examination
