Moreover, ever since the appearance of the term “Information Technology” humans improved in the way they used to store, retrieve, manipulate and communicate through ‘information’. With the expansion of Information Technology we can achieve many things in short time. Humans could have never done that in the past, therefore, Information Technology has helped making our lives easier through the use of such technology devices and having works done faster.

What is core and enabling technology for an organization?

Technology has been used to do multiple strategies that has made positive points for the organizations, such as attracting their customers by the way they providing their services and facilitating the business functions within and out an organization. In fact, Technology has become a powerful way for most of the organizations. Not only that, but some of the organization their core businesses are based on technology also.

Core technology is the type that is necessary for an organization to use in order to run its business. Actually, there are some organizations that need technology as a main service that help to run the business. For example, e-commerce companies, such as Amazon and eBay whose businesses are based on technology. Both of them need to run some main technical services, such as e-mail server, database server and the company’s website.

On the other hand, enabling technology is the type that is unnecessary for an organization to use in order to run its business. However, this type is actually used in order to improve and support the businesses. In other words, the organization's business is running with or without this type of technology. For example, there are some organizations that are using technology to develop their businesses by using technology as an assisting service like using emails to make their communications or using some applications to enhance some business functions' performance.

In my opinion, all the organizations no exception are using technologies either to run their business or to support the organization's performance.
