Cell phone or mobile phone is an indispensable device today. Initially, the mobile phone could only be used in vehicles by size, after it was reduced to a portable unit, and finally to the pocket size we use today.

The first mobile phone was the 450 NMT (Nordic Mobile Telephony 450 MHz), developed by Ericsson; this device, was still using frequency modulation radio signals.

By that time the phones were still large and heavy, but represented a breakthrough in terms of mobile communication.

It later moved to radio frequency (900 MHz) higher than those already known.

SECOND GENERATION 2G

The second generation is born in the early 90s, uses GSM, IS-136, iDEN and IS-95 systems with 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies.

In this generation the use of radio waves is abandoned and it gives way to the digital age of communications. This offers great advantages such as voice quality, improved safety and lower operating costs.

It is set as a standard the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications or Group Special Mobile). This standard gives way over time to CDMA, which included new advantages over its predecessor. This transition in cellular telephony is known as generation 2.5.

THIRD GENERATION 3G

The third generation is characterized by expanding features like bandwidth and data management and besides offer new services such as teleconferencing, television, full internet access and download of files.

At this time the technological development allows an entirely new system: UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System).

Nowadays the system continues being developed in terms of technology and marketing as well.

FOURTH GENERATION 4G: THE FUTURE

Generation 4, or 4Gwill be the technological evolution that will offer to mobile users greater bandwidth, will allow among other things, T.V. high definition reception. As an example, we can cite the Nokia Morph concept mobile. Today there is already a system of this level called iPhone 4G from Apple company.

Surely along with Internet, cell phones have become one of the essential elements for the social life of any person

With a mobile not only we start a telephone communication, but we can also take pictures, capture video, surf the Internet, play games, listen to music and an endless of tasks that currently can develop with the terminal.

For all this, while adding the breakthrough in what refers to technology ,besides the physical appearance of the equipment, as incorporating modern multi-touch screens, virtual keyboards and more, the cell phone has become much more than his name suggests, to become a true multifunction
