content into speech. Screen readers help by enabling blind people to access websites, listen to text and select the right links. Screen readers also include features like moving mouse pointer through computer controls and reading out whole documents or computer screen at once. Refreshable braille displays is a piece of hardware which can give access to blind people by provide information from a computer screen electronically with certain pins that can lower and rise. The refreshable braille display can display up to 80 characters from the computer screen at a time. The refreshable braille display can be used by the user moving the mouse cursor over text or using routing keys or command keys but the refreshable braille display is least used due to it being so expensive and fragile with its price range around 3,500 to 15,00 dollars.
Some design requirements which need to be used to make this accessible to blind people are adding keyboard support, provide textual description (for things like tables, images and movies), provide some skip links on websites and make links self-descriptive. Keyboard support can be important because blind people can switch from link to link without getting lost within the webpage, some ways to support ‘keyboard support’ is to not allow website navigation by JavaScript or Flash movies. Ways to add textual description is to add an audio icon which say some like “Click to listen to paragraph 1” or “Click to listen about image 1” and then add a recording to it so when they listen to it they have audio. Skip link are important because the allow the user to skip to main content rather than listening to page menus or other unneeded content for user.
