be a line between being an Amateur and pro. Once you think you are good enough, you have every right to stop being a amarteur and start becoming a professional, but once you start being paid as a professional you can’t go back. Why would someone who could play at a professional level continue to play at an amartuer level after being offered a contract?
The NCAA should not allow amateurs to be paid because it ruins the line between being an amateur and a pro. The amateur part of an athlete’s life is meant for learning and improving oneself to become a professional. Once an athlete is good enough to be a professional they should advance as one. Being a professional doesn’t mean you can’t go back to college but you couldn’t get sports scholarships. Amateurs aren’t supposed to be expected to be professionals so by paying amateurs only the ones that are playing a professional level would be cared about. College teams would become more with recruiting and too much focusing on financial issues and where their money should go.
In conclusion the NCAA should not allow amateurs to be paid when we look at the unfair advantages, the scholarship opportunities, and the line of being pro and amateur. The NCAA is right about not paying amateurs but athletes should not be punished for past incidents that the NCAA uncovers. Athletes should not lose their scholarships overs the NCAA rules. The rules are meant to benefit athletes as much as they can while remaining financially stable.
