These two cell divisions can take place both in humans and in certain animals. It is indeed how we are formed into a human being. It is where living organisms create new organisms. Bacterial cells divide in two; and some organisms having both male and female organs. Yet it goes beyond that which man discovers, God has created everyone and everything in his own power. Isaiah 43:7 says, “Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” Behind anything that was ever made there is a reason, there is a reason why God made us. He created man in his image to show his attributes and display his glory. In Genesis 1:27 it says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

The Hebrew root of the Latin phrase for image of God—imago Dei—means image, shadow or likeness of God. We are a depiction of God. Even where sin abounds in this present world that we live in we are all still made in the likeness of His image. Genesis 2:7 says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Man's life is not simply the rearrangement of molecules inside of his body, nor is it from any creature, but is a gift from God. God did not create human beings because he needed them. As God, He needs nothing, He never in his life felt lonely, therefore He was not searching for a "friend." He loves us, but rather this is not the same as requiring us. On the other hand if we had never existed, God would in any case be God—the perpetual one. Man was created for this purpose, He wanted men to glorify His name, serve Him with gladness and worship Him in spirit and in truth.
