Pitbull

Anthony Douglas Williams once said “Each and every animal on earth has as much right to be here as you and me.” In this world, many animals are abused, made to fight, and killed without a second thought. The fighting of animals, especially dogs, is called dog-fighting, and this is a major issue throughout the United States, and in many other countries. Dog-fighting wasn’t well known until Michael Vick and Bad Newz Kennels brought it into the public. Many people don’t realize the extent of the training and suffering the dogs go through or even how they’re killed. Dog fighting is one of the most unpleasant things a human being can commit, because there are several people who are earning money through the suffering of a creature.

The breed that is commonly used for dog fighting is the Pitbull breed. This dog breed is known for being aggressive, and having the tendency to attack people, making this dog breed one that many people would not like having at home. However, even though many experts have said that the attitude of dogs depends very much on the training that the owner gives to the creature. This is because of the reputation that this breed of dog has, many people have this type of dog to make money, using them in dog fights; putting the poor creature to inadequate training.

The training that these dogs receive is dreadful. Besides dogs that are being trained, there are also other victims: such as small dogs, or other types of small animals.

According to Katryn Destreza, at any level of this type of organized cruelty there are often more victims than just the dogs used in the pit. It is common for fighters to utilize other dogs who are not trained to fight as ‘bait dogs’. These dogs are victimized by being faced off against a trained fighting dog, serving a purpose to the dog fighter as a tool in training. Also, these dogs must be kept isolated from other dogs, so they spend most of their lives on short, heavy chains. Then, an animal with this kind of training will become aggressive with other dogs and also with people. When a dog fight is dismantled by the police, many of the dogs go to shelters, some of them are retrained for adoption, but others are put to sleep. Dogs that are retrained and adopted, for a time, live in fear for the abuse they received from their previous owners and the fear can make them become aggressive. This is what happen with pit-bulls, and not just with them. Every dog whether they be small or large, if they feel intimidated by someone or something they react in a violent way.
