Pilates is a very popular fitness class today suitable for all ages. Pilates improves your strength, muscle tone and posture which is highly recommended by Physicians, Physcial Therapist and Chiroprators. Its focuses on the core of muscles that help keep the body balanced, important for providing support to the spine. Exercise programs have benefits in weight loss, build bone density, increase cardiovascular functions, conditioning and also and stress reliever.

The career path that I have chosen is psychology. As a psychology major, it is important to understand biological and physiological influences of the mind and behavior. Learning about the human body parts and their functions and how they interact with the brain is vital to psychologist.

Understanding how the mind works involves studying the brain and its functions. It would be very difficult for psychologist to understand the mind without the knowledge of the brain structure and how it functions. The comprehension of human anatomy and physiology will show psychologists how the brain operates together with the nervous system, endocrine system, and other important parts of the body system (”Perspectives & Connections”, Gregory Feist & ErikaRosenberg).

Not to mention, I am currently an Activity Specialist at a local nursing facility, and I think it is important to know basic anatomy and physiology because I work with the elderly and in a healthcare setting. I provide a plan of appropriate activities for the residents, which sometimes involves physical activities. Most of the activities may include walking which can sometimes be difficult for some residents, therefore, they will need assistance. A lot of the residents suffer from many different illnesses which result when there is something abnormal in the anatomy and physiology of a structure.
