another. Then towards the end of the play she is almost raped by Proteus because she doesn’t love him. Also Thurio and Proteus feel like they are entitled to Silvia’s love because they love her and have done a few things for her. for example Thurio’s window serenade and Proteus ring he attempts to give her and a letter. As for Julia who takes back Proteus because she loves him which in my opinion was a stupid decision based on the fact that he loved another woman lied to her and told her Julia was dead and then attempted to rape that woman.

The characters that stood out to me were Julia and Silvia, they are two strong women. Although Julia cross dressed for the man she loved and forgave him for falling in love with another woman, she knows what she wants. And then there’s Silvia who was promised to Thurio, a man she did not love and so she pursued her feeling for Valentine and only stopped once she had found him. They both fight for what they want regardless of what obstacles they may face.

I enjoyed the play overall, it was comedic at some points. I wasn’t sure what they play would be about when Valentine and Proteus were saying goodbye to each other. I thought they were gay, and was a bit disappointed to find out it wasn’t. Although based on their bromance throughout the whole play even they weren’t gay they definitely did not seem straight. My favorite character would definitely be Julia. The way the actress played her was incredible and it stood out to me the most. The actors were all amazing and really sold their characters, I completely forgot I was watching a play and not real events unfolding before my eyes. Although I wasn’t a fan of the misogyny, the play was overall outstanding.
