they had contained for so long. They howled their feelings, but the Moon was too deaf to hear the wolves and the wolves were too blind to see that she wasn’t listening.

Only later did the elite alpha realize that their goddess would only show her full glory once a month. She recuperated herself so that she reached the highest potential of beauty. Only years later did the wolf realize that their goddess was in love was the offspring of the devil, the Sun.

Every night, the Moon gathered her diamonds to return to the tear in the sky so that the Sun could emerge from the darkness to shed his warmth on the world. The Sun was so achingly in love with the Moon that he ensconced himself every night to let her shine a spotlight on the world. The Sun and the Moon were lovers who always pursued their relationship despite the weight of missing one another. Although, once in a while, when they caught up, they kissed, and the whole world would freeze to capture the brilliance of their eclipse.

The wolves immediately became aware of what was going on, a love triangle was crystallizing. The wolves wanted no part in such an atrocity! Though, the wolves disdained to capitulate that soon. During nightfall of the full moon, the wolves howled so passionately, so that maybe the Moon would reflect her rigid zeal of light back at them. Perhaps she could forget about the Sun all together.

Centuries had passed and humanity made the wolves ooze even more covetous; the packs noticed how easily they loved, were loved and worshipped without perturbation. Churches, synagogues and shrines galore were built in dedication to their myriads of gods. However taunting that jealousy was, it was like nicotine that made the hunger for the Moon even more addictive. It delivered the kind of pain that the wolves thought they had deserved. Why would the Moon chose a vicious creature when she could have someone from her world instead?

Wolves still howl in the eternal hope that one day, the Moon will shine upon them with the luminosity of love and ardor. No such light was shed on the specie yet, but their forlornness derives them to states of intense predatoriness. The packs occasionally offer sacrifices to the Moon as humans did to their god. The weakest newborn’s soul would follow the path of stars to the Moon to persuade her to reciprocate the love of the wolves. No such oblation was substantial enough to fulfill the crave of the Moon. Although, how could one ask another to love when they didn’t even love themselves? The Moon kept restoring the wolves’s hope for she kept shining in times of darkness. The Sun was the only desire of the Moon who could mend her imperfect, broken heart that was emblazoned with thousands of craters.
