Availability of Guns.

According to Cruz, “In most school violence cases, the shooter stole a family gun. According to Center to Prevent Handgun Violence, there are two guns for every household in the United States.” (p. 11). Parents who abuse their children think that that child is too frightened to ever fight back much less steal their gun and go on a killing spree, but in far too many cases that happens. Parents do not properly lock up their firearms and when their teen snaps the parents are the first ones to die. For example, on October 1st, 1997, Luke Woodham at sixteen years old beat and stabbed his mother to death before going to his high school Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi and killing his ex-girlfriend and other classmates some that had picked on him and some that were simply innocent casualties killing some and wounding others, using his fathers’ rifle. According to Davis when Luke was tackled by an armed teacher he said; “…the world has wronged me…” (p.67-79). Luke was terrorized by his mother and classmates, he felt as if he did not fit in and was unwanted and he finally snapped.

Children, teens, kids whatever adverb used to describe them, they are being beating and bullied everyday all over the world. Some of them turn to violence and lose their thread to rational thinking. Why some turn to violence but others do not is something of a mystery and again depends on the individual. Solutions and preventive measures are being tested and revamped to help make schools a safer and better place to live.
