Various researches regarding 5HT2A receptors have yielded contradicting results regarding receptors. Some studies suggest that there is a change in this type of receptors while the other studies reveal that no change occurs. The differences between the findings of these studies arise from the lack of non-specificity in the labeling of receptor’s ligands. Pandey et al. conducted a study on the receptors of post-mortem brain in teenage suicide victims (2013). According to this research he found that there was a change/increase in 5HT2A receptors in regard to protein and binding of mRNA expression. This goes to support my earlier stand that radiological detection can aid in understanding suicide behaviors among such victims.

In conclusion, radiological detections play a significant role in patient’s diagnosis. Diagnostic radiographers and therapeutic radiographers provide crucial services to millions of needy people regardless of their age bracket. Suicide cases are increasingly becoming common in the world and especially in the U.S. There are numerous researches that have been conducted regarding this subject and some of them have yielded contradicting findings. In my opinion, radiological detection of the function of the brain can aid in predicting the behavior to commit suicide. The presence of anomalies in the seretonergic system and changes in 5HT2A receptors, arguably signify that suicidal behaviors can be predicted. Personally, this is an interesting topic, and I intend to conduct further research to eliminate the mystery surrounding this subject.
