Prototype Development

The next step is to create a functioning prototype that will function to the standards need to produce conclusive data for the final product. This will allow Apple to survey focus groups in which they will give feed back on what they liked about the product, what they did not like about the product, and how it could be improved. There needs to be very careful consideration before each prototype is made, because we want to limit our time at the already thought-out drawing board to limit production costs and deadline set backs. Once a final product is found suitable for production, the focus shall be moved to who will manufacture the device to the high standards Apple holds. This must be carefully evaluated so that the company will not experience loss in manufacturer defects or integral reputation.

Implementation, Validation, and Refinement

We will provide a questionnaire related to the concepts of the new Apple Watch, and from there, produce at least three (3) prototypes to be evaluated. From these three (3) prototypes we will find our end resulting product to be manufactured. At this stage we will also implement strategy on how launch the new smart-watch, what form of packaging will be used to complement the product, and the means of how to distribute it swiftly. As well, evaluations will be made on producing product pricing for this new model.

Conclusion

The Innovation Business Design Model (IBDM) is a valuable tool in producing a strategic plan to move forward in innovation. We assessed the situation, identified possible problems and opportunities, developed a concept, developed a design for a prototype, and a plan to implement, validate, and/or refine the plan in place. Future we dissected each step to clearly define what expectation is held for each process. The goal is to move forward in technology, and a new Apple Watch will be that next step in the right direction.
