Members of each Filipinos family are bound by deep love for one another. They are obedient and cooperative. They are appreciative of whatever they have but they are trying to improve their situation if not comfortable to them. They study, seek employment, do business and save. Their outlook is bright; they are optimistic. Filipinos are patient and persevering, courageous and brave, and loyal to the country. They move on amidst disasters and upheaval. They have faith in themselves. They trust God.

- What ails (bad about) Philippine society?

Philipine society has many ailments. Indifference and misplaced tolerance are foremost. Many Filipinos are not concerned with the sad plight of their neighbors. They let corruption pass with only a mild criticism. That is why corruption in the Philippines is always at its peak. Corruption exists among elected and appointed government officials and employees. They are bold and daring to be corrupt because of said indifference and misplaced tolerance of Filipinos.

Another, slightly lower in importance, is our indulgence, if not addiction, to so much entertainment through showbiz, sports, telenovelas, and computer games. Entertainment and play is good but too much is already bad and damaging.

Vices like gambling and drinking also pulls us down because whatever resources we have for the family is wasted in them. Then there is the mañana habit of leaving important work to some future date if ever it would be worked upon.

Then there is our attitude of making the government a scapegoat, blaming it for our predicament, be it poverty, sickness, lack of shelter, disaster, lack of education, and many more. An offshoot of this is our too much dependence on it for our every need even if many of us are not giving counterpart obligations (taxes and social work) for the government to function. This poses as an economic, social, and political problem. This is bad for the country.
