JEPPE: Oh, I got your point.
CHRISTA: There will be zero eye contact. You look me in the eyes in front of that judge, and I will ship you back to that country of yours so fast your babies will have jet lag. And absolutely no touching! None!
JEPPE: Aw man… I mean… Good! Or bad? I don’t want to touch you, I mean I DO want to touch you, but only if you want to… do you want to? No, you probably don’t want to… Because I don’t want to… do you?
CHRISTA: …. Focus. We need to practice, let’s start at scene 4
CHRISTA/JANE: “I can’t live without you, Beaux-Bo.”
JEPPE/BEAUX-BO: “Don’t you see? This is the way it has to be. It’s the circle of Life… Banana”
JEPPE: Wait… banana?
CHRISTA: Yeah… Banana… you’re a monkey.
JEPPE: I am?
CHRISTA: Yeah! It’s a very heartwarming story about Jane, that’s me, a lonely researcher living in the rain forest. Her only friend is a monkey named Beaux-Bo, that’s you.
JEPPE: Oh, cool! But monkeys don’t talk.
CHRISTA: Beaux-Bo knows sign language, so everything he signs Jane will translate…
JEPPE: But I don’t know sign language.
CHRISTA: Just make it up… Oh and Beaux-Bo has a tumor…
JEPPE: On his heart?
CHRISTA: Yes, it’s very sad. Let’s continue…
TRANSITION (a weema wei X4)
JEPPE/BEAUX-BO: “It’s the circle of life…” (Nants ingonyama bagithi baba)
CHRISTA/JANE: “It’s the circle of life.”
JEPPE/BEAUX-BO: “Banana.” (Sithi uhm ingonyama)
CHRISTA/JANE: “Banana.”

TRANSITION SFX (In the jungle the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight)
CHRISTA/JANE: “I came here to teach you, but as it turns out, you are the one teaching me.”
JEPPE/BEAUX-BO: “It is the spirit of the rainforest.” (Hakuna matata)
CHRISTA/JANE: “It is the spirit of the rainforest.”
JEPPE/BEAUX-BO: “Feel the heartbeat of the trees and leaves.” (Hakuna, matata, hakuna, matata, it’s a problem free)
CHRISTA/JANE: “Feel the heartbeat of the trees and leaves.”
JEPPE/BEAUX-BO: “Do you hear it? (beat beat)” (philosophy)
CHRISTA/JANE: “Gasp (listening… beat beat) Beaux-Bo, it’s beautiful.”
JEPPE/BEAUX-BO: “Banana…” (Hakuna matata)
CHRISTA/JANE: “Banana.”
TRANSITION SFX
CHRISTA: Second place… Good job Jeppe… but if we want to win, we have to work even harder. From now on, you’re mine!
JEPPE: I am?
CHRISTA: Yes… Everyday… After school… Practice at my house… No excuses…
JEPPE: No problem! YES!
JEPPE: We had four weeks until our next competition, so we went to Christa’s house every day after school. Her parents were really supportive. This was a whole new experience to me.
JEPPE: Your parents are really supportive; it’s a whole new experience to me.
CHRISTA: Your parents aren’t supportive?
JEPPE: No.
CHRISTA: Come on Jeppe, I’m sure that’s not true.
JEPPE: Do you wanna talk to them and see for yourself?
CHRISTA: Jeppe! I would love to!
MOM: Hi Jeppe!
JEPPE: I have someone here who would like to meet you.
CHRISTA: Hi Mrs. Jeppe’s mom!
MOM: Jeppe you never told me you got a girlfriend?
JEPPE: No mom, it’s not-----
DAD: Did I hear someone say girlfriend? Move woman, let me see. Jeppe I have to say, (whispers to JEPPE) I am very proud of you.
CHRISTA: No sir, we’re just friends!
DAD: (whispers to JEPPE) Jeppe I am very disappointed in you. Christa, I know my son is not the most popular kid, or smartest, or handsomest… (long pause)
CHRISTA: …. But?
DAD: No but. I just wanted you to know.
JEPPE: Dad, I’m right here!
DAD: I know… I just wanted you to know too.
JEPPE: We put all that behind us, and before we knew it, we were at the state tournament waiting to find out if we made it. And guess what? We did.
CHRISTA: Listen, before we go into that final round, there is something I want to tell you. You have been the best speech partner I could’ve ever asked for. And, maybe after this is over, we can, you know… touch. OUTSIDE OF THE PIECE OF COURSE!
JEPPE: And have some eye contact?
CHRISTA: Maybe, I’ll have to give it some serious consideration. OK. LET’S KILL THIS FINAL ROUND!
JEPPE: I was so nervous I was afraid I was going to forget how to speak English… Men det er jo hvad der kan sker når man har det sjovt og man ikke rigtig ved hvad man skal… I did it again
