Lastly, and most dangerous for our geography, weather, economy, and wellbeing are how global warming causes higher sea levels, and acidic oceans. The earth’s underwater ecosystems are being threatened due to our oceans becoming acidic. This is the cause of our excess emissions that are being let out; in this case our excess gasses our cause. “As this acidification accelerates, it poses a serious threat to underwater life, particularly creatures with calcium carbonate shells or skeletons, including mollusks, crabs, and corals.” (Denchak 1) These acidic oceans aren’t just affecting life underwater; shellfisheries are having a hard time as well. Acidification in just one year cost the Pacific Northwest oyster industry nearly 110 million dollars. The more acidifications the more the price goes up which is not good for the economy. Acidic oceans aren’t the only things; we also have to be wary of higher sea levels that could result from global warming. The polar regions are melting fast this is a danger for the region’s people, wildlife, and plants, but since it is melting so fast sea levels are rising. “By 2100, it’s estimated that our oceans will be one to four feet higher, threatening coastal systems and low lying areas, including the entire island nations and some of the countries largest cities such as New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Miami.” In the future, global warming could be the cause of serious flooding issues in these major cities.

Overall, Global warming is impacting our world in major ways. These ways are definitely not good things either. No one wants to have severe weather, dirtier air, higher death rates, higher animal extinction rates, or more acidic oceans. Unfortunately, thanks to global warming these are all consequences that affect our geography, weather, economy, and our wellbeing.
