2. Using your best cultural intelligence, how would you adjust your behavior on a business trip to China?

There re always different cultures in different countries & peoples belongs there. I would help me research the knowledge concerning Chinese societal, educational, organizational culture and the philosophy they use to manage their people. Before any trip, I study how their cultures vary with respect to geography and locations. I also study how this culture affects the working and communication in population and behavioral. I grew in the completely multicultural environment, which should quite help me assist developing cross-cultural skills and behavior on a business trip to China or any other country.

3. What cultural adjustments will Chinese managers need to make if they want to effectively manage Americans in the rapidly growing number of Chinese-owned business in the United States?

With rapid growth, Chinese adopting cultural change very fast. As I grew in the completely multicultural environment, I have noticed Chinese expatriates are, the faster learner and open to new challenges to explore. Majority of United States organization has adopted quite a few tools and techniques from Japanese model. Based on learnings and readings, it is observed Chinese Management model are restraint decision making and high risk taking. Most Chinese management following practice and procedure

• Most decisions are often made in groups

• The Chinese are highly skilled at working in teams

4. Based on what you just learned in this chapter, are you more or less interested in getting a foreign assignment some day? Explain.

Based on my experience and knowledge on foreign assignments, I have learned it needs good preparation prior to travel commencement. One should understand before the trip about culture, people, like and dislike, program, canvassing subjects such economic, society culture, political issues, geography, customs, and language situations, etc. It is quite evident that solid cross-cultural skills are a must prerequisite in these assignments.

Conclusion

Globalization has changed a lot of ways corporations are operating these days. It has been very hard for most of the companies to adjust in this new fast changing environment. Few companies had some challenge faced in China. Successful managers need cross-cultural skills, knowledge, and training to succeed in a position outside of their country. Three Chinese myths will require an individual to possess an in-depth research of the Chinese cultural tendencies. Comparing to other western cultures, Chinese culture is a very different culture and encourages a more distant managing style. Few key learning, we should remember are;

• Understanding cultural differences

• Understanding high-context and low-context

• Accepting the Chinese workers with their collectivist and individualist culture.

• Eliminating some cross-cultural roadblocks
