She looks like a future teacher or even a librarian. Another person, my height with black Einstein hair, is working on art. He is caramel colored, with sad, drooping eyes but he is dressed well. Wearing a blacking long sleeve, Ralph Lauren shirt with black joggers and black Adidas Ultra Boost, he still looks depressed. “I hate my life,” we heard him say. I asked him why he came to the library and responded “it brings me peace and is allows me to concentrate better.” Then there is another girl. She is dark skin with short hair. Her eyes look weary as if she is tired. Her body is motionless while she stares into her laptop. She looks zombified. She looks like she has been up for days without any type of sunlight. Trapped in a daze, it is simply as if she is the Statue of Liberty. Even in their problems, they still seem at peace. They face looks depressed but they demeanor shows no signs of worry or stress in the world.

As you look out from the area, you see random flashes of people as they roam the top floor of the library. They look like ghost who are searching for their soul. Some even look like they are taking laps around the area. At first it looks a bit confusing but it is really quite simple. The bookshelves are set in neat rows. The setup is like a basic library, but there seems to be over a million more books. The top floor looks like an endless road without an outlet or a pointless maze. Every way you turn your head you see books. Everyone that has come up the stairs seems to look lost. They look left and right and still cannot figure out which way to go. They pick one way to go and walk around in until they find what they are looking for. Even in the crazy maze, they seem to keep their peace. No one goes crazy. They slowly take they time to find what they are looking for. They find peace in the storm of trouble. This makes me think there is a bigger purpose of the library.

Back into the area where I am, there is a couple at one of the tables. They look to be on a date. A date at the library may not be the most romantic place but they seem to be comfortable. They converse and laugh without a care in the world. The girl, who is a strawberry blonde-haired woman, is having the time of her life. She has a wide smile and dreamy eyes. The guy has big ears and looks goofy but the girl does not mind. They go on eating their Chinese food and having their date. Another person is sitting in the corner looking a bit annoyed. Not annoyed because they are laughing and talking, but annoyed simply because they are interrupting her FaceTime call. She makes weird faces and sucks her teeth. Her voice is scratchy and sounds like she smokes. Her face has the look of a mother who is simply annoyed with their child. Still, the unruly girl does not seem to bother the couple or anyone else in the area. Everyone in the area is at peace.

Peace is to be free of worry or stress. No matter who I encountered at the library, everyone was is at peace. This makes me think the library has a bigger purpose. People come to the library for many different reasons, but the one thing they have in common is peace. The library is not only a place to get work done and study, but a place to gather and have peace. The library is like a big community. It is a community inside of a community. No matter how bad their day has been, everyone is friendlier, happier, more peaceful at the library. People look to the library for peace and comfort like a baby wrapped in a blanket and is being held in its’ mothers arm. The library has many uses even if it is “A Date at the Library.”
