to work but couldn’t, because companies wouldn’t hire them due to their disability. I think the many laws that have been created and passed since then have really helped those who are disabled. The American Disabilities Act plays a huge part in today’s work force, and helps prevent most cases that occur. The ADAA was created in 2008 to improve the ADA, and played a huge part in the Adame case to help him win his case against Alcoa. According to the ADAA employers are not to focus on an employee’s disability, but rather to focus on whether or not they are providing employees with options. The ADAA was created to help prevent employers from mistreating employees and from their opinions of what they think is the nature of the employee’s disability. Although there are still some difficulties, and some companies who will try to find alternate ways to either not hire someone or to fire them because they don’t fit their criteria. Sadly it happens, but hopefully one day technology will help those people and then companies will never have a reason to deny them their rights in the work field.
